Blue... then purple. Then black.

You are sitting in my lap
kissing my face.

I am looking
at the computer monitor.

You are chattering:
“… I love you, be my man,”

and I stop you.

“I will not. I cannot.”
You laugh, and giggle.

I look past you out the
open window.

The day is turning,
like a piece of fruit ripens,
and the sky turns from

light blue

to

deep purple.

When you leave you are in tears.
You slam the door behind you.

Poor girl.

Outside the window,
the sky has turned black.

I have a full night ahead of me.
