God

He was wearing a light brown and white plaid shirt that buttoned down the front. His hair was shoulder length, black and parted in the middle and it fell into his face as he bent over and was reaching down from on top of two cages, up and behind a chain link fence. There were dogs, snapping and growling in the cages beneath his feet.

He looked up, and let the hair fall onto his flat, dark, wide cheeked face. He began screaming: “God! God is misery! God is betrayal!”

He let the dogs loose. The man and the woman were running as fast as they could. The dogs were much faster and were catching up to the man and the woman.

“God is chaos! God is being eaten alive by dogs! God is dying without hope! God is insanity!”

The dogs were racing now, snarling and foaming at the mouth. A black doberman and a brown doberman. Racing. Racing behind the man and the woman.

“God is fear! God is brutality! God is senseless murder! God is problems without any answers! God is hopelessness!”

The man and the woman looked back. The dogs were there. The last thing they heard was the man yelling. Then the man and the woman felt the dog’s jaws snap through their arms.

The dogs tasted blood and began ripping at the throats of the man and the woman.

The man in the faded brown and white button-down shirt, with the black hair and the broad cheeks, on top of the cages behind the chain link fence began to laugh.
