It's not a song I deserve to be singing.
Everyone pays the piper, the old saying goes.
I guess the way to beat that fucker
is to choose which of the songs
to feel like swaying to.
“I’m tone deaf.”
“I don’t sing.”
Those excuses have never worked.
However, I do like to dance.
Usually to a rhythm all my own.
People have said they can’t hear my song.
Most of them have wanted me to hear their beat instead.
“I think I’ll just sit this one out,”
That works just fine
when I hear a song that
I don’t deserve to be dancing to.
And that’s how you win that game.
